RIAU – To prevent the fire in the forest and area, especially in Riau Province, Coordinators of REDD+in cooperation with coalition of NGO in Riau, Eyes on the Forest held an investigative training of fire in the forest and area for the local people. It started from typology investigation of fire until the authentic evidence to be processed according the law.
Coordinators of REDD+ in its written information which InfoSAWITgot, Saturday (12/7/2014), mentioned, the training was held on 10-11 July, 2014 and followed by 14 local NGO campaigners having integrity to advocate of natural resources, especially the forestry sector in Riau.
The speakers in the training derived from many sectors, they were,: Prof. Dr. Ir. H. Bambang Hero Saharjo, M.Agr – Professor in Forest Protection, IPB; Nursamsu – Reform Site Coordinator WWF Indonesia; Riko Kurniawan - Eyes on the Forest; Dr. Ir. Basuki Wasis, MS – Lector of Head Department of Silvikultur, IPB; Aan Kasman – GIS Manager Remote Sensing & Database di Jikalahari, Riau; and Kompol Hariwiyawan, SIK.MIK from Police Department, Riau.
“The training is important to involve some elements of this nation to lift up the lawlessness relating to the fire in the forest and area, “ Deputy of Operational, REDD+, Willy Sabandar said.
He thought, the people should be involved as the investigators of the fire in the forest happening in their villages and around to realize the law enforcement for the suspects. (T3)
