Unmask Palm Oil Demand Sustainable Palm Oil

New Zeland - Campaign Director of Unmask Palm Oil, Ben Dowdle said, beneath the labeling regulation, New Zeland and Australia, all food products containing palm oil could be labaled as having materials “vegetable oil”.

According to Ben, it is impossible for the people using palm oil which is not sustainable. “Palm oil is vegetable oil used to be the ingredients in many products, such as, ice cream, chocolate, margarine, cosmetics, and shampoo,” he said as quoted from Stuff.co.nz, Thursday, (3/7/2014).

But he said, the presence of palm oil is spotted by the ecology – deforestation costs in Indonesia and Malaysia which makes the extinction of orangutan, tigers and elephants and they are in crucial numbers to extinguish.

So Dowdle made petition over 7500 signature to the trading commits, on Thursday to make the label in palm oil packs.

“The campaign is not to boycott palm oil products but to make the new policy of labelling the products and it is hoped to strengthen the certified sustainable palm oil through the consumers’awareness,” he said.(T3)
