JAKARTA–Pesident of Republik Indonesia Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said, Indonesia commits to struggle against deforestation and peatland degradation as the significant contribution to the global mitigation in the climate changes.
“It is important to maintain them (the peatland and mangrove) to prevent the worst impacts of the climate changes,” he recently said in Jakarta.
According to the forest statistics in 2012, as written by Coordinators REDD+, there were about 131,3 millions hectares of forests in Indonesia or 69% of the land in Indonesia. (T3)
