East Kalimantan Urged Palm Oil Industries

SAMARINDA – To develop available renewable natural resources, the government of East Kalimantan boosted palm oil plantation as the mainstay sector in the future.

Governor of East Kalimantan, H Awang Faroek Ishak said, palm oil plantations have better prospects to the value chain development. The derivative products could be developed too, both for oleofood industries and oleochemical ones.

“This commodity could be the alternative business to develop sustainable econmoy in East Kalimantan and that is why the provincial government urges the acceleration of the founding of International Port and Industrial Region in Maloy, East Kutai,” he said as quoted from the official site of East Kalimantan Governmentm Tuesday, (17/6/2014).

He continued, Awang Faroek, palm oil plantation in East Kalimantan has reached 3,09 millions hectares and there are 344 palm oil companies withing 243 Plantation Business Licence and 129 Business Utilization within 1,14 millions hectare. (T3)
