PT Jalin Vaneo Deploys Firefighting Team to Help Contain Forest Fire in West Kalimantan

InfoSAWIT, KAYONG UTARA – PT Jalin Vaneo’s Manggala Agni firefighting team has moved quickly to help contain a forest and land fire in Kayong Utara, West Kalimantan, deploying high-capacity water pumps and a tanker truck in coordination with local authorities and security forces.

The fire has been burning since Sunday, September 6, 2026, in the concession area of PT Mayawana Persada, which borders PT Jalin Vaneo’s plantation area.

Cited by InfoSAWIT from Suara Pemred Kalbar on Thursday (10/9/2026), the Manggala Agni team from PT Jalin Vaneo was immediately deployed after the fire was detected.

The response was led by PT Jalin Vaneo General Manager Martua Siahaan, with the team bringing firefighting equipment to help contain the spread of the flames.

The operation involved high-capacity water pumps and a tanker truck. The company’s firefighting team worked alongside the Kayong Utara Forest Management Unit (KPH), as well as personnel from the Indonesian Military (TNI) and National Police (Polri).

The joint effort was aimed at accelerating firefighting operations and preventing the blaze from spreading to surrounding areas.

Company Clarifies Fire Was Outside Its Plantation

PT Jalin Vaneo emphasized that the fire being handled by its team occurred outside the company’s plantation area.

The clarification was made because the location of the fire is directly adjacent to PT Jalin Vaneo’s plantation, while the burning area is within the concession of PT Mayawana Persada.

“The fire occurred outside PT Jalin Vaneo’s plantation. We do not want anyone to assume that it was inside the company’s licensed area because PT Mayawana Persada is located next to PT Jalin Vaneo’s plantation,” Martua said.

He added that no fire had occurred inside PT Jalin Vaneo’s plantation area.

“Thankfully, there has never been a fire inside the PT Jalin Vaneo area so far,” he said.

Despite the fire occurring outside its operational area, the company continued to participate in firefighting efforts to help prevent the blaze from spreading.

Martua said the company would maintain its preparedness and assist villages surrounding its operational area in responding to potential forest and land fires.

Cross-Sector Cooperation Critical to Fire Prevention

The involvement of PT Jalin Vaneo’s Manggala Agni team highlights the importance of cross-sector cooperation in responding to forest and land fires, particularly during periods of heightened fire risk.

The company coordinated with the Kayong Utara KPH, TNI and Polri personnel in efforts to control the flames. Firefighting equipment, including water pumps and tankers, supported operations in the field.

Beyond extinguishing existing fires, prevention and early detection remain important components of the response. PT Jalin Vaneo has encouraged communities around its operational area to help protect the environment and immediately report any new fire hotspots.

Early reporting allows firefighting personnel to respond before a fire grows and spreads across a wider area.

The response also underlines that forest and land fire prevention cannot be handled by a single party. Government agencies, security forces, companies and communities each have complementary roles in protecting forests and surrounding environments from the threat of fire. (T1)
