JAKARTA – As the biggest crude palm oil producer in the world since 2006, Indonesia is required to have environmental and sustainable palm oil plantations. So the government published the policy so that evey company should have Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO) certification.
Director of PT Astra Agro Lestari, Tbk., Joko Supriyono said, his side supports the policy of ISPO for it is an initiatives of the governent to make sustainable palm oil plantation in Indonesia. “The criteria in ISPO should be based on the regulations in Indonesia,” he recently said to InfoSAWIT in Jakarta.
Furthermore, Joko convinced, having ISPO, the palm oil businessmen will pay attention more to the environment around the plantation so the environmental palm oil plantation are not words only.(T3)
