PALANGKARAYA –Secretary of Climate and Environment, Norway, Tine Sundtoft, on April 22-25, 2014 visited Indonesia. He wanted to strengthen the partnership Indonesia – Norway to conserve the forest and reduce the emission through Reducing Emmission from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD+) mechanism.
As it was reported by REDD+ Republic of Indonesia Board, Tine Sundtoft would meet with the government leaders of East Kalimantan and all partners supporting REDD+ in the pilot province and visited Desa Bukit Tunggal, Tangkiling region, as the pilot programme, withnessed orangutan near Tahai Lake, cross the Sei Gohong river and visited peatland conservation in Village Jabiren, Subdistrict Jabiren Raya, District of Pulang Pisau.
“Secretary of Climate and Environment of Norway, Tine Sundtoft to Jakarta and East Kalimantan is to strengthen the good cooperation and coordination after both countries signed Letter of Intent (LoI) on May, 2010,” Head of Management of REDD+, Heru Prasetyo said in his press release which InfoSAWITaccepted, Thrusday, (24/4/2014).
Beside that, Heru explained, REDD+ welcomed the work partnership with Norway to witness the implementation of the programme in Indonesia. “Central Kalimantan becomes one province commits in it. REDD+ integrated to many regions and it is one evidence of Indonesia to protect the asset of this nation, including the forest, environment, and the poeple,” he explained. (T3)
