JAKARTA – The government of Indonesia plans to extend the moratorium or the postponement of forest enlargement which will be end in May 2015. It will be extended in the next two years.
Secretary of Environment and Forestry (EF), Siti Nurbaya said, when the meeting with Coordinator Ministry of Economy, there were some considerations that the moratorium will be extended in the next two years or finish forever.
“We did the meeting in the Coordinator Ministry of Economy and it was concluded that the moratorium will be continued but after two years, it will be discussed again that it will be re-continued or not,” she said in Jakarta, Monday (27/4).
The moratorium itself has run since 2011 made by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono through its Presidential Instruction No. 10 / 2011. Then the it was extended until 2013 and recontinued until May 2015. (T3)
