MEDAN - ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) which will be running in 2015 becomes the new and harder challenge to the palm oil farmers in Indonesia. AEC will ease the foreign big corporations which have big modals to dominate than nowadays conditions.
"It will threat the independent palm oil farmers having plantations for more than 48% than nowadays plantations which reach 9 millions hectares,” Chairman of Indonesian Palm Oil Association, Anizar Simanjuntak, in his press release, quoted from Rmol.
Anizar continued, farmers palm oil plantation has low productivities and small modals. These are the problems so the foreign corporation will be easily to buy theirs.
So, the government needs to re-emphasize its alignment to the palm oil farmers by revitalizing the implementation of CSR of the big corporation to develop farmers’ palm oil plantations. It also happens to the obligation to develop 20% farmers’ which are cultivated by corporations as written in the Regulation of Secretary of Agriculture No 8.(T2)
