JAKARTA – The government of Norwegian ensured that the reducing emission programme (REDD+) keeps running. They are seriously doing it because Indonesiaa agreed the cooperation in reducing emission in Oslo, Norwegian, five years ago.

It was the main discussion in bilateral meeting between the delegation of Norwegian which was represented by Prime Minister of Norwegian, Erna Solberg and delegation of Indonesian Republic, President Joko Widodo in Istana Merdeka, Jakarta, Tuesday (14/4).

Solberg convinced, Indonesian Republic under the leadership of President Jokowi could reduce emissions. “When visiting Indonesia, I will meet the people of Jambi to know what they do there,” she said after the bilateral meeting.

As reported by Kompas, Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Retno LP Marsudi said, REDD+ is done in three phases, they are, the preparation of infrastructure, transformation, and implementation. Now the programme is in the transformation phase. She convinced, Indonesia could reach the target to reduce emissions until 26% in 2020.

Retno thought, the agriculture programme which is running will not stop the forest conservation. The government always emphasizes to balance the environmental conservation and the development. It has been understood by Norwegian.(T2).
