Kuala Lumpur – International Environment Non Government Organization, Fern and Forest Trends accused, the increasing demands on some commodities, such as, palm oil, cow meat, soybean and skin have urged the increasing of illegal logging in the forest in Malaysia.
Just like Navigator food.com reported, Fern and Forest Trends predicted, about 18% of the palm oil imports to Europe derive from the forest damages, reaching 550 millions of Euro and the area reaches 130 thousands hectares.
The accusation is clearly denied by Malaysian Palm Oil Council and thought, it has no valid data. MPOC claimed, as same as the UN agreement, Malaysia keeps maintaining more than 50% of the total forest in Malaysia.
