JAKARTA – Palm oil plantation businessmen really support the implementation of Indonesian Sustainability Palm Oil (ISPO) or environmental palm oil plantation certification.
But ISPO should be strengthened in the internal organization. Beside that, it needs to socialize to the international markets continously so the importer countries admit it.
Vice Chairman of Standing Committee in Plantation, Indonesian Chambers, Teguh Patriawan said, though the target of ISPO delay (by the end of 2014), palm oil plantation companies keep listing theirs to be admitted. But the delay happened for the limited auditors.
Beside that, the ISPO cerification process was delayed because the institution is not strong enough. “So in the future, ISPO commission should be magnified and fulfilled by competent men in their fields to accelerate the cerification process,” he hoped. (T2)
