InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – Indonesia’s crude palm oil (CPO) tender at PT Kharisma Pemasaran Bersama Nusantara (KPBN) ended in a withdrawal on Wednesday (August 19, 2026), with the highest bid reaching Rp15,755 per kilogram, down Rp80 per kilogram, or around 0.51%, from the previous day.
The decline came as Malaysian palm oil futures moved in the opposite direction, closing higher on Wednesday amid gains in soybean oil on the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT), stronger crude oil prices and growing concerns over the potential impact of El Niño on palm oil production.
Based on information obtained by InfoSAWIT from KPBN, CPO offered on a Franco Dumai basis opened at Rp15,900 per kg but was withdrawn, with the highest bid recorded at Rp15,755 per kg.
The FOB Talang Duku tender opened at Rp15,650 per kg and was also withdrawn after the highest bid reached Rp15,505 per kg. Meanwhile, CPO offered on a Franco Teluk Bayur basis opened at Rp15,700 per kg, with the highest bid standing at Rp15,478 per kg before the tender was withdrawn.
Other locations also recorded withdrawals, including Loco PKS Kembayan, Loco PKS Parindu and Loco PKS Ngabang.
Malaysian Palm Oil Futures Extend Gains
While the domestic KPBN tender ended without a deal, crude palm oil futures on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives closed higher.
According to Bernama, the market was supported by stronger soybean oil prices on the CBOT. Firmer global crude oil prices, amid the continuing conflict between the United States and Iran, also helped lift market sentiment.
Concerns over the possible impact of El Niño on palm oil output added further support to prices.
The September 2026 CPO contract rose RM38 to RM4,654 per tonne, while the October contract gained RM40 to RM4,794 per tonne.
The November 2026 contract increased RM33 to RM4,893 per tonne. December rose RM29 to RM4,972 per tonne, while January 2027 gained RM26 to RM5,033 per tonne. The February 2027 contract advanced RM23 to RM5,071 per tonne.
Trading volume, however, declined to 142,285 lots from 165,588 lots previously. Open interest moved higher to 336,503 contracts, compared with 333,655 contracts in the previous session.
Physical CPO prices for September delivery in southern Malaysia also increased by RM30 to RM4,640 per tonne.
