InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – Indonesia will promote its palm oil industry as one of its strategic sectors during INNOPROM 2026 in Yekaterinburg, Russia, as the government seeks to expand investment opportunities, strengthen export market access, and deepen industrial cooperation between the two countries.
According to a statement received by InfoSAWIT on Friday (June 26), participation in one of Eurasia's largest industrial exhibitions reflects Indonesia's broader strategy to enhance the global competitiveness of its manufacturing sector while opening new opportunities for value-added palm oil products in the Russian and wider Eurasian markets.
Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said Indonesia's designation as the Partner Country for INNOPROM 2026 represents an important milestone in advancing bilateral economic cooperation.
"This trust provides Indonesia with an excellent opportunity to expand industrial collaboration and develop partnerships that deliver tangible benefits for both Indonesia and Russia," Agus said during a meeting with Russian Ambassador to Indonesia Sergei Gennadievich Tolchenov and Russian Trade Representative Alexander Masaltsev in Jakarta.
The meeting focused on preparations for INNOPROM 2026, scheduled for July 6–9 in Yekaterinburg, while also discussing plans to strengthen industrial cooperation through a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) covering several strategic sectors.
Indonesia and Russia also reaffirmed their commitment to implementing two agreements signed in December 2025, covering cooperation in the shipbuilding industry and scientific research on the safe use of chrysotile asbestos. Both governments expect these initiatives to generate concrete industrial projects and strengthen long-term business partnerships.
At INNOPROM 2026, Indonesia will be represented by around 50 companies spanning food and beverages, machinery, electronics, furniture, digital industries, green energy, and export-oriented manufacturing.
For the palm oil sector, the exhibition offers an important platform to demonstrate Indonesia's downstream processing capabilities and its ongoing commitment to sustainable palm oil production.
The government also plans to organize a series of business forums and panel discussions highlighting investment opportunities in palm oil, petrochemicals, aluminum, shipbuilding, and industrial estate development.
These forums are expected to facilitate new partnerships between businesses, investors, and policymakers from both countries while expanding trade in Indonesian manufactured products, including higher-value palm oil derivatives.
Agus expressed confidence that industrial cooperation between Indonesia and Russia will continue to deepen through the initiatives surrounding INNOPROM 2026.
"We are confident that closer cooperation between Indonesia and Russia will deliver concrete benefits for both countries. Through INNOPROM 2026, we hope to generate more investment, trade, technology transfer, and industrial partnerships that support sustainable industrial growth," he said. (T2)
