To Help The Farmers, Malaysia Makes The Flat Tarif Scheme.

PEKAN –A flat tarif scheme to help the farmers and fishermen having no more than RM500.000 income per year will run as same as the Goods and Service Tax (GST) on April 1st.

Vice Secretary of Treasury, Datuk Ahmad Maslan said, the flat tarif scheme will be about 2% of the total numbers. This is to reduce the production costs in agriculture and fishing which some groups have spent after the GST has been running.

“If the farmers sold their palm oil fruit or other agricultural products to the producers, the producers should pay the palm oil or agricultural products price and pay 2% more of the total price,” he said as quoted from Bernama, Monday (22/3).

He also explained, the farmers or the fishermen could have 2% additional income from the selling of kinds of vegetables and fish which are sold to Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) or regional fishermen association (PNK).

“2% which the groceries or producers, FAMA, or PNK spend will be claimed to the government so that they will not spend more money to pay a group of people,” he explained. (T3)
