KOTAPINANG –Campaigners of Green Labusel Community (GLC) accused the peatland in South Labuhan Batu especially in Subdistrict of.Kampungrakyat turned into palm oil plantation. dijadikan perkebunan kelapa sawit.
Accrording to GLC, there were many peatland areas in South Labuhan Batu which were more than 3 metres in depth were conversed to be palm oil, done bypalm oil companies. “One of it is done by company UMW in Village of Tanjung Mulia, Subdistrict of Kampungrakyat,” Chairman of GLC, Ripai Nasution said to journalists, Monday, (19/5/2014).
He explained, the security of the peatland forest has the regulation, that is, President Decision No. 32 / 1990 about the Management of Protected Region. The Decision prohibits the conversion in peatland which is more than 3 metres in depth.(T3)
