REA Kaltim Plants 5 Hectares of Corn to Strengthen Village-Level Food Self-Sufficiency

InfoSAWIT, KUTAI KARTANEGARA — PT REA Kaltim Plantations (REA) reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening national food security by expanding corn cultivation at the village level. The initiative aligns with the President’s Asta Cita program and reinforces the company’s sustainability pillar, Empowering Livelihoods, which focuses on enhancing smallholder capacity and local economic resilience.

On 4 November 2025, REA, together with the Kembang Janggut Police Sector, carried out a symbolic planting of 2.5 hectares of corn at the Perdana Oil Mill area in Kembang Janggut District, East Kalimantan. The event was attended by subdistrict leaders, police, military representatives, and the village head of Pulau Pinang, demonstrating strong cross-sector support.

REA’s Head of HRD and Medical, Dedy Raisandi, emphasized that the activity goes beyond ceremony. “This initiative supports our Community Development Program and the Empowering Livelihoods pillar. Our focus is on practical skill enhancement, sustainable agricultural practices, and creating local economic opportunities,” he said.

Kembang Janggut Police Chief AKP Dedy Supriyanto highlighted corn cultivation as a national priority program that the police institution also upholds, noting its importance in maintaining regional stability and community welfare.

To ensure the program’s success, REA allocated 5 hectares of land, provided hybrid corn seeds, and offered technical assistance to the community. The company hopes the initiative will strengthen local food resilience and generate lasting economic benefits. (T2)
