MANDYA–Though being in drought for last three years, palm oil cultivation in district of Mandya, India have been planted. But they still hope that the rain will come soon.
There 267 farmers in seven taluks have cultivated palm oil in about 270 hectares in Mandya. It was reported too, there 86 farmers planted in 103 hectares got better harvest, 550 metric ton in 2013-14. But the rest area is in the beginning steps.
In 2013-14, 85 hectares of palm oil are planted in the district and in 2014-15 Departement of Holticulture will increase the plantation in cooperation with Ruchi Soya Industries.
"Making good and right nursering, the harvest will be minimally 25 MT / Ha to get and the profit will 1 lakh ke `1,25 lakh /hectare to get,” Assisten Director (Holticulture) M Shantha said to NewIndianExpres, Monday (19/5/2014). (T3)
