InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA — The Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) intensified efforts to strengthen tax compliance in the palm oil sector during a taxation outreach event attended by 200 business representatives from 137 major taxpayers. The session, seen as a key step in improving fiscal governance of the strategic palm oil industry, was held at DJP Headquarters.
Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa made an unannounced appearance, underscoring the importance of industry collaboration in supporting Indonesia’s tax system.
“We want a fair and healthy business climate. Please cooperate so we can all move forward,” Purbaya said. He stressed that recent joint operations with the National Police exposing illegal CPO derivative exports were intended to enforce fair practices, not intimidate businesses.
DJP Flags Risks of Under-invoicing and Fake Invoices
DJP Director General Bimo Wijayanto revealed that the agency had detected new irregularities in the sector following recent enforcement actions, including under-invoicing and use of fictitious invoices.
“We urge taxpayers to conduct voluntary corrections before we initiate further legal action,” Bimo warned. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to a transparent and competitive palm oil industry.
The event was also attended by senior members of the National Revenue Optimization Task Force and representatives from the Forest Area Enforcement Task Force. (T2)
