InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – Pakistan imported palm oil worth US$2.93 billion in 2024. Of this amount, Indonesia still remains the main supplier with export value reaching US$2.6 billion, although experiencing a slight decline of 2% compared to the previous year.
This data refers to the report World's Top Exports – Palm Oil Imports by Country (2024) quoted by InfoSAWIT, Tuesday (28/10/2025). In the report, Indonesia and Malaysia dominate almost all palm oil supplies to Pakistan, with a combined contribution of almost 100%.
Malaysia ranks second with export value of US$344.8 million, or up 14.2% compared to 2023. Meanwhile, supplies from other countries such as Singapore, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, and Sweden are recorded in very small amounts—each below US$2 million.
Malaysia Grows, Indonesia Still Dominant
The growth in Malaysia's export performance is the only positive growth in the list of palm oil suppliers to Pakistan in 2024. Nevertheless, Indonesia's dominance remains very strong, with a market share of more than 88% of Pakistan's total palm oil imports.
Overall, the value of Pakistan's palm oil imports declined by an average of 0.4% compared to the previous year, when total purchases reached US$2.94 billion. This decline is in line with fluctuations in global palm oil prices and Pakistan's vegetable oil stock policies, which are often adjusted with domestic demand and the value of the rupee against the US dollar.
For Indonesia, Pakistan is one of the main export markets for palm oil in South Asia, besides India and Bangladesh. The volume of exports to this country is an important indicator of the national palm oil trade performance, given the significant contribution to export foreign exchange.
Although there was a slight decline in 2024, maintaining a market share of over 80% shows that Indonesia's position remains dominant. However, Malaysia's export increase should be a signal for industry players to strengthen market strategies and pay attention to aspects of price competitiveness and logistics.
