KUD Tri Daya Builds Bore Wells to Support Sustainable Palm Oil in East Kotawaringin

InfoSAWIT, EAST KOTAWARINGIN — The Village Unit Cooperative (KUD) Tri Daya in Parenggean District, East Kotawaringin Regency, Central Kalimantan, continues to show its commitment to sustainable palm oil plantation practices. Through the utilization of RSPO Credit Funds (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil), this cooperative launched various social and environmental initiatives that provide direct benefits to its farmer members.

The latest step by KUD Tri Daya is the construction of a bore well with a capacity of up to 10,600 liters of water, intended for the needs of farmers in the field. Water from the well is distributed to several points in the members' gardens, with a collection system every 100 meters. This facility not only helps in watering and spraying plants, but also provides clean water sources for farmers after activities in the garden, such as during harvesting or land clearing.

According to the ISPO and RSPO Certification Manager of KUD Tri Daya, this program is an important part of the cooperative's efforts to ensure that the benefits of RSPO funds truly return to farmers. “Besides for education, health, and environmental management, we utilize RSPO credit funds to support basic infrastructure needed by farmers to increase garden productivity,” he said in an official statement written by InfoSAWIT, Monday (20/10/2025).

He added that adequate water availability in the gardens greatly helps farmers maintain work efficiency and harvest quality. “With the construction of bore wells and water collection systems, farmers find it easier to manage their gardens because water is always available for spraying needs and daily activities,” he said.

KUD Tri Daya itself has obtained RSPO certification since 2022, marking its role as one of the sustainable palm oil cooperatives in Central Kalimantan. Since obtaining the certification, this cooperative has actively channeled part of the funds from RSPO credits into the Smallholder Social Responsibility (SSR) program — a form of social responsibility focused on farmer empowerment and improving the quality of life of communities around the gardens.

Through various innovations and transparent fund utilization, KUD Tri Daya not only promotes member welfare, but also makes a real contribution to environmental conservation. Concrete steps like building bore wells prove that sustainable palm oil practices are not just slogans, but real actions from farmers for a greener and more productive future. (T2)
