InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – The Indonesia Palm Oil Research & Innovation Conference & Expo (IPORICE) 2025, a conference and exhibition focusing on palm oil research and innovation, was officially held from October 1–3, 2025. Initiated by the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) and the Indonesian Plantation Business Association (GPPI), the event served as a strategic venue for cross-stakeholder collaboration to strengthen palm oil’s role in supporting energy resilience through technological innovation.
Carrying the theme, “Strengthening Synergy in the Palm Oil Plantation Sector to Support Energy Resilience Based on Technological Innovation,” IPORICE 2025 features a conference, exhibition, and a field trip. The first two days were dedicated to discussions and the exhibition, while on October 3, participants were scheduled to visit the Ministry of Agriculture's Industrial and Refreshment Plant Assembly and Testing Center (BRMP TRI) in Sukabumi, West Java.
GPPI Chairman Delima Hasri Azahari emphasized the event's importance in unifying research, policy, and community visions. "IPORICE is a platform to convey BRIN’s vision: Science to Science, Science to Policy, and Science to Society, which aligns with the principles of sustainability. This vision is founded on profit, people, and planet, which also guides GPPI in making the national plantation industry a main pillar of economic development for the welfare of the people," she stated at the event attended by InfoSAWIT on Wednesday (10/1/2025).
Meanwhile, Head of BRIN’s Governance, Economic, and Community Welfare Research Organization, Agus Eko Nugroho, deemed the forum a crucial moment to accelerate the utilization of palm oil for renewable energy. "Through IPORICE, we can synergize various stakeholders to support national energy resilience. This discussion is also a step toward accelerating the development of biodiesel and bio-aviation fuel, particularly B40 and B50," he revealed. Agus hopes the palm oil industry can increase farmers' incomes and improve community welfare more broadly in the future.
Head of BRIN’s Center for Industrial Economics, Services, and Trade Research, Umi Mu’awanah, affirmed that IPORICE represents a triple helix collaboration node between government, academia, and industry. "This event is here to answer the strategic challenges of the palm oil industry from upstream to downstream, with science and innovation as the main drivers. We hope a strong synergy between policy, industry, and technology can accelerate energy transition while maintaining Indonesia's competitiveness in the global market," she explained.
As the world's main palm oil producer, Indonesia has a critical role not only economically but also socially and environmentally on an international level. Therefore, sustainability and innovation are key to ensuring the industry continues to contribute positively to the national and global economy.
The IPORICE 2025 event also received support from several strategic partners, including BPDPKS, Pupuk Indonesia Holding Company, Perkebunan Nusantara (PTPN), the Council of Palm Oil Producing Countries (CPOPC), Pertamina, and Triputra Agro Persada. (T2)
