InfoSAWIT, CEMPAGA HULU – In many villages across Central Kalimantan, parents are often plagued by the question of what will become of their children after high school. This worry is now being addressed by Bumitama (BGA Group) through its "Bumitama Berdaya" (Support and Effort) education program.

The initiative provides mentorship to young people from rural areas as they prepare for military and police academy selections. For three months, students receive academic guidance, physical training, discipline building, and mental motivation. The program's goal is to close the gap in information and access that often makes the path to the military and police feel out of reach for rural youth.

This year, the program's efforts have borne fruit. Two young men from Cempaga Hulu sub-district have achieved their dreams. Gorvin Ericson Varel Sihombing, from Mirah Kalanaman Village, is now officially a TNI Tamtama soldier in Jakarta, while Muhamat Parasastiyuo, from Pantai Harapan Village, is undergoing military training in West Kalimantan.

“The guidance we received not only prepared us academically and physically but also gave us the belief that we have the same opportunities as kids from other areas,” one of the participants said in a statement.

For Bumitama, this achievement aligns with the company’s commitment to investing in the social development of communities in its operational areas. Through "Bumitama Berdaya," the company seeks to align its business interests with community empowerment, proving that rural youth can also bring pride to their regions and the nation. (T2)
