InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – PT Agrinas Palma Nusantara (Persero) is affirming its commitment to supporting sustainable palm oil governance by holding a socialization event for the Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO) standard. The activity, initiated by the Directorate of Research, Development, and Sustainability, was attended by hundreds of employees in a hybrid format from the Agrinas Head Office last Thursday (9/11).
The Director of Palm Oil and Various Palms at the Directorate General of Plantations, Ministry of Agriculture, Baginda Siagian, was the main speaker. He emphasized that ISPO is not just a regulation but a national standard that ensures Indonesian palm oil remains competitive in the global market. "ISPO is here to answer the demands for sustainability. It's not just so that palm oil products are internationally accepted, but also to guarantee the economic survival of millions of palm oil workers and farmers," he said, as quoted by InfoSAWIT from Agrinas Palma Nusantara on Wednesday (9/17/2025).
From within the company, the General Manager of Upstream Research and Industrial Technology, Rudy Yanto Sirait, presented Agrinas's concrete steps in meeting the seven ISPO principles, ranging from legal compliance and good plantation practices to environmental management, social responsibility, and transparency. "Implementing ISPO is not just about documents but about a culture of sustainable work. Every employee plays an important role in ensuring that cultivation practices meet standards and that the environment is protected," he explained.
External issues were also discussed, including the European Union's EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), which demands that palm oil products be deforestation-free and traceable to their origin. In this context, ISPO is seen as a strategic instrument to strengthen Indonesia's position and counter negative campaigns against the palm oil industry.
Funding support was also presented by the Acting Head of the Upstream Palm Oil Plantation Sector Fund Distribution Division of BPDPKS, Dwi Nuswantara. He explained that as of August 31, 2025, BPDP has issued 152 technical recommendations with a total fund value of Rp576.3 billion, consisting of Rp297.89 billion in cash and Rp278.40 billion in goods. This scheme includes facilitating technical ISPO verification, issuing STDBs, providing Internal Control System (ICS) training, and offering certification assistance.
For Agrinas Palma Nusantara, BPDP's support is a crucial pillar to ensure that ISPO certification can be faster and more inclusive, especially in reaching smallholders. "ISPO is the path to a more sustainable Indonesian palm oil. We want to be an example of how a state-owned plantation enterprise can be a driving force for the welfare of the people," Rudy concluded.
