Topaz GT, a Superior Palm Oil Seed Tolerant to Ganoderma and Yielding 40 Tons of FFB per Hectare

InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – Asian Agri continues to strengthen its position as a provider of superior palm oil seeds with its latest variant, Topaz GT. This seed is claimed to be capable of producing up to 40 tons of fresh fruit bunches (FFB) per hectare per year, while also offering better resistance to Ganoderma attacks, a disease that has long been a major threat to national palm oil plantations.

The superiority of Topaz GT is not limited to its productivity. This seed is designed to grow optimally in various conditions, from fertile lowlands to marginal, hilly, and nutrient-poor land. For its management, Asian Agri recommends a planting density of 130 trees per hectare for hilly land, and a maximum of 143 trees per hectare for flat land. This rule is important to prevent etiolation, or the growth of trees that are too tall and thin due to a lack of light.

“If planted too closely, the plants can compete for sunlight. This will actually inhibit growth and production,” explained Husen, an Asian Agri representative.

With intensive care, each Topaz palm tree can produce an average oil yield of 28 percent, a figure that is considered high in the Indonesian palm oil industry.

The Footprint of Topaz in the Archipelago

The Topaz palm oil seed has spread widely in various palm oil centers, from Lampung, Riau, Jambi, and Aceh to Kalimantan and West and Central Sulawesi. Not only is it planted on the company's internal plantations, but this seed is also increasingly in demand by independent farmers and external partners.

“Many have already harvested, and the results are encouraging. Topaz is increasingly known as a resilient and profitable superior seed,” said Husen.

In addition to seed quality, Asian Agri also highlights its commitment to after-sales service. Farmers who purchase seeds directly from the company will receive assistance from the nursery stage all the way to harvest.

“If there is a problem, they just need to send a video or make a phone call. We will immediately help find a solution. We don't abandon them after the sale,” he stressed.

To obtain Topaz seeds, farmers must meet administrative requirements in accordance with Minister of Agriculture Decree No. 4 of 2005. By simply showing proof of land ownership, a family card, and other supporting documents, farmers can get Topaz seeds with a minimum order of 500 seeds.

Husen reminded farmers to only purchase seeds through official channels. Purchasing through third parties is prone to fraud and risks losing access to after-sales service.

"We strongly recommend buying directly from us. Besides being safe, there are also special discounts for large-volume purchases," Husen concluded. (T2)
