InfoSAWIT, SAMARINDA – The commitment to strengthen palm oil plantation governance in East Kalimantan was reaffirmed. The East Kalimantan Provincial Plantation Office (Disbun Kaltim) held a meeting to discuss proposals for Palm Oil Plantation Infrastructure and Facilities (Sarpras) via the Sarpras Application at the Disbun Kaltim Office on Wednesday.
According to InfoSAWIT and Disbun Kaltim on Thursday (8/28/2025), the forum was a crucial space for provincial and regency/city governments to align their perspectives and formulate strategic steps to support the productivity and sustainability of palm oil plantations.
The meeting was opened by the Acting Head of Disbun Kaltim, represented by the Head of Processing and Marketing, Taufiq Kurrahman. The sarpras teams from Paser, East Kutai, West Kutai, and Kutai Kartanegara regencies were present in person, while representatives from North Penajam Paser and Berau participated online.
In his directive, Taufiq emphasized the importance of synergy across regions so that every sarpras proposal truly addresses the needs on the ground. "Our success in this sarpras activity is marked by the issuance of technical recommendations. These recommendations are verified by regency and provincial teams, so that the proposals submitted are more precisely targeted," he said. He also mentioned the progress of proposals from 2021 to 2023, particularly in Paser Regency, ranging from production road improvements to intensification programs.
Technical discussions were led by Agricultural Extension Agent Arif Sabtamiharja, who presented updates on proposal verification, technical obstacles in each region, and acceleration strategies. "We must ensure every proposal is well-verified. Technical constraints in the field need to be quickly resolved so that acceleration recommendations can be followed up without hindrance," he asserted. Arif also stressed the need for continuous assistance to overcome challenges such as limited access to roads, equipment, and land readiness.
Through this meeting, Disbun Kaltim hopes to build a shared commitment between the province and regencies/cities to accelerate the realization of palm oil plantation infrastructure. The results of the discussion, as outlined in the technical recommendations, will be the basis for on-the-ground implementation, ensuring the program is more transparent, accountable, and aligned with community needs.
Disbun Kaltim is optimistic that this consolidation will not only strengthen plantation infrastructure but also serve as a foundation for increasing the competitiveness of East Kalimantan's palm oil commodity in the national and global markets. (T2)
