InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – Indonesia's palm oil industry continued its impressive performance in June 2025. According to a report from the Indonesian Palm Oil Association (GAPKI), palm oil product exports saw a significant increase to several key destinations.
China became the largest importer, with an additional 283,000 tons in exports. This was followed by India (224,000 tons), Africa (125,000 tons), Pakistan (69,000 tons), Russia (65,000 tons), the United States (58,000 tons), Bangladesh (47,000 tons), Malaysia (39,000 tons), and the European Union (EU-27) with 10,000 tons.
In terms of value, June's palm oil exports were recorded at US$3.64 billion, a 28.84% increase from US$2.82 billion in May. "The value of palm oil product exports in June saw a significant rise, both due to higher volume and stronger average prices," said GAPKI Executive Director Mukti Sardjono in an official statement received by InfoSAWIT on Sunday (24/8/2025).
Year-on-year (YoY) export performance also showed solid growth. Through June 2025, the value of Indonesia's palm oil exports reached US$17.28 billion, a 34.64% increase compared to the same period in 2024, which was recorded at US$12.83 billion.
GAPKI noted that the increase in export value was driven not only by volume but also by higher average prices. The average price for January–June 2025 was at US$1,180/ton CIF Rotterdam, an increase from US$1,000/ton in the same period of 2024.
Regarding stock levels, GAPKI reported that at the beginning of June, stock was at 2.92 million tons. With an additional production of 5.29 million tons of CPO and PKO, domestic consumption rising to 2.07 million tons, and exports reaching 3.61 million tons, the final stock for June decreased to 2.53 million tons.
This surge in exports amidst increasing domestic consumption and a decline in stock demonstrates the high global demand for Indonesian palm oil and reinforces the commodity's strategic role in maintaining the country's foreign exchange reserves. (T2)
