InfoSAWIT, MAMUJU – The West Sulawesi (Sulbar) Provincial Office of Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises, Industry and Trade (Koperindag) has affirmed its full support for the upcoming working visit of the West Sulawesi Regional Parliament's Commission II. This commitment was made during a preparatory meeting held at the Commission II Meeting Room in Mamuju on Tuesday (19/8/2025).

The working visit is a follow-up to public complaints regarding alleged encroachment on protected forest areas, issues with the boundaries of PT Pasangkayu's cultivation rights (HGU), and a review of fresh fruit bunch (FFB) prices for palm oil farmers.

The Head of the Trade Division at the Sulbar Koperindag Office, Muhammad Najib Ali, stated that his agency is ready to play a strategic role. He attended the meeting along with Supervisor of Goods and Services, Arifuddin, representing the Koperindag.

"In line with the leadership's directive and the meeting results, we are ready to facilitate meetings between Commission II of the Regional Parliament and the palm oil companies operating in West Sulawesi," said Najib Ali, as reported by InfoSAWIT from the Sulbar Provincial Government on Thursday (21/8/2025).

According to him, this facilitation is crucial to ensure the parliament's oversight function is carried out effectively. The main focus of the upcoming visit will be direct checks on inter-island trade of palm oil and its derivatives, as well as the re-calibration of measuring instruments used by companies.

This collaborative effort between the executive and legislative branches is seen as consistent with the vision of Sulbar Governor Suhardi Duka to create a fair, transparent, and pro-community business environment, especially for palm oil farmers. Through tighter supervision, the government hopes that the palm oil trade in West Sulawesi will operate according to regulations while providing tangible benefits to the regional economy. (T2)
