InfoSAWIT, KARO – The Criminal Investigation Unit of the Mardingding Sector Police has arrested a man, identified by the initials MAP (35), a resident of Buluh Pancur Village, Lau Baleng District, Karo Regency, for the alleged theft of palm oil fruits belonging to a local farmer.
The incident occurred on Saturday (16/8/2025) around 7:00 PM WIB in the plantation area behind Pakcin Rice Mill in Buluh Pancur Village. The victim was Antonius Haloho (38), a farmer from Lau Kasumpat Village, Mardingding District.
The Mardingding Police Chief, AKP A. Nainggolan, explained that the chronology began when the victim received information from a witness, Swadana Stevanus Karo-karo, that a man had been apprehended for allegedly stealing his palm oil fruits. "The victim then went to a tuak stall in Buluh Pancur Village and met the suspect, MAP. When questioned, the suspect confessed to his actions," said Nainggolan, as reported by InfoSAWIT from the National Police public relations, Wednesday (20/8/2025).
The suspect was taken to the local village office before being secured by the police. During the investigation, it was discovered that MAP had taken 46 bunches of palm oil fruit, with a total weight of 1,040 kilograms. As a result of the theft, the victim suffered losses of around Rp2.88 million. All the evidence was also secured by the police.
For his actions, MAP is charged with Article 362 of the Criminal Code (KUHP), which carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison. Police Chief Nainggolan praised the community for handing over the suspect without resorting to vigilantism. "We urge the public to always follow legal procedures. This case proves that cooperation between the community and the police is essential for maintaining safety and order," he emphasized. (T2)
