ESDM Ministry Exceeds Oil and Gas Production Targets in First Half of 2025

InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA — The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has reported positive performance in the first half of 2025. Several strategic programs have successfully driven an increase in natural resource production, expanded the utilization of new and renewable energy (EBT), and accelerated electricity access in remote areas.

In a press conference in Jakarta on Monday, August 11, ESDM Minister Bahlil Lahadalia emphasized that these achievements align with the aspirations of President Prabowo Subianto's administration, particularly the targets for energy self-sufficiency and downstream processing. “These steps are a tangible manifestation of the government's efforts to ensure energy availability for the welfare of the people,” he stated in an official statement quoted by InfoSAWIT on Thursday, August 14, 2025.

From the oil and gas sector, production performance shows a positive trend. The cumulative average oil and gas production reached 111.9% of the 2025 APBN target. Oil production in June 2025 was recorded at 608.1 thousand barrels per day, or 100.5% of the target of 605 thousand barrels per day. The average production for the first half of the year reached 602.4 thousand barrels per day, or 99.5% of the target.

“In June, our production exceeded the APBN target of 605 thousand barrels, now it stands at 608 thousand. This is a proud achievement. God willing, we can meet the APBN target in 2025. This is the first time since 2008,” Bahlil said at the ESDM Ministry office.

Positive performance is also evident in the utilization of biodiesel made from Crude Palm Oil (CPO). By June 2025, domestic biodiesel usage reached 6.8 million kiloliters (kl) out of an annual target of 15.6 million kl. This program has significant economic impacts, including a foreign exchange savings of USD 3.68 billion or IDR 60.37 trillion from reduced diesel imports, as well as an increase in the added value of CPO to biodiesel amounting to IDR 9.51 trillion.
