Pontianak –The cheap price of rubber commodity for the farmers made them togetherly to cultivate palm oil. Marius (47) a rubber farmer in District of Landak, Sunday (25/5), said, in last three year, the rubber price got decreasing and by this week it also did.
The rubber price was less than Rp 10.000 per Kg. This would make them difficult to earn their living for they depended on the commodity.
Beside that, the rubber trees were in old age and less productive. So they could not cultivate the trees anymore. So they started to change the rubber trees to be palm oil. Beside having stable price, palm oil is not difficult to do nursery and harvest rather than rubber. (T2)
