PAINAN –Palm oil farmers in District of South Coast, West Sumatera Province get lost for the collectors of the fruit buy their harvest – palm oil fresh fruit – in cheaper price. It is just about Rp 900 to Rp 1.000/kg.
A farmer in North Kembang, Subdistrict of Lengayang, Ijal, Tuesday (3/3) mentioned, the fruit price which the collectors buy is not worth to the cultivation fee in the area and the daily needs. The ideal price, he continued, is Rp 1.900/kg.
He pretended, if it is Rp 1.900/kg, he could pay the employees’ fee to nurse and harvest. “Now, for it is not in good price, he should cultivate the plantation by himself. Though I do it myself, it is not worth still. The fertilizer itself in every single stalk needs Rp 800. So the cleansing and the transportation make it more to pay,” he said as quoted from Haluan.
The palm oil farmers in South Coast generally don’t know the fruit price which the local Plantation Agency has decided so they just sell it to the collectors. (T3)
