KUALA LUMPUR – One palm oil plantation company, Olam International Ltd, thought, Africa is going to be the tempting region to run palm oil business though there are lots of challanges, such as, infrastructure and logistics.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Olam, Sunny Verghese, Tuesday (3/3) said, Afirica still has good agro-climatic to plant palm oil and rubber. “But, the ambiguity is in the land for it relates to the expensive investment, logistics, infrastructure and employees. These become the challanges to face and solve,” he said.
The Hindu Business Line wrote, Olam itself has started the first palm oil industrial project in Gabon within 50.000 hectares and the US$ 500 millions of investment. The project is the jointventure company 60:40 between Olam and Republic of Gabon. (T3)
