IPOA Needs to Monitor Unpopulist Regulations

JAKARTA , INFOSAWIT – In the last time of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono era, there were many regulations which were not profit to the national palm oil industrial developments.

For example, the extension of Moratorium of new area enlargement, the emerge of Regulation about Wetland Ecosystem, the revision of Plantation Regulation and the Regulation of Secretary of Agriculture about the plantation business licence, which obliges the businessmen to limit the area – just 100 thousands hectares nationally.

It is clear, Indonesian Palm Oil Association (IPOA) should monitor the emerge of unpopulist regulations. The IPOA should become the partner with the government to make conducive regulation for national palm oil industries.

The new IPOA coordinators should be pro active to monitor the regulations which will be thought as the unconducive ones to the industries.

The previous IPOAcoordinators tended to monitor the domestic problems. The reasons, the problems related to the development of palm oil plantation – of coursr, the regulations significantly effected the industries. “Though there were some negative issues, the Europe keeps buying. So we focused more to the domestic problems,” Chairman of IPOA (2012 – 2015), Joefly J Bahroeny mentioned.

But for information only, the emerge of the unconducive regulations, as the facts show, tends to effect and influence the environmental issues.
