According to Chairman of Serikat Petani Kelapa Sawit (SPKS) Nasional, Mansuetos Darto, there are some weakness in the regulation and should be improved to protect the people and the environment, namely in the plantation management, and palm oil in special.

“Regulation of Plantation less accomodate the independent farmers for it does not regulate about the alternative management farmers which run the people’s cooperation. The regultion consists of unimportant things for the farmers, such as, partnership farmers scheme,” he said in Jakarta, Tuesday (17/2).

He continued, plantation partnership scheme which runs for such a long time will be unfair and will make conflicts. The conflicts will re – happen again by the implementation of the New Regulation of Plantation, especially in the Article 57 and 58.

“The Partnership Scheme in the regulation could not make the same position among the plantation companies and the people,” he explained.

So the Civil Coalition emphasized, the Regulation of Plantation will not be the one to protect the people and small farmers from the criminal action in plantation. (T3)
