Problems in Palm Oil

JAKARTA – Until this moment, palm oil still has many problems to solve to increase the industry which is said as one efforts to solve the poverty.

In the end of 2013, many palm oil fortune tellers from foreign countries predicted, crude palm oil (CPO) price will be better. Unfortunately, it didnot prove by the end of 2014.

The El nono which was thought to cut off the production to increase the CPO price in the world did not happen. The price was flat, and in the end of 2014, it got worse for the decreasing crude oil price in the world.

Indonesian Palm Oil Businessmen Association noted, the CPO price is low than the last five years ago. The average price in 2014 decreased 2,8% or about US$ 818,2/ton.

But, the national CPO export volume in 2014 increased 2,5% or about 21,76 millions of tons. The numbers could be more if they were added by the CPO downstream exports in 2014 to be 31,5 millions of tons. The production also increased 5% than it in 2013. “The result of national palm oil industry in 2014 is good,” General Secretary of IPOBA, Joko Supriyono recently said in Jakarta. (T2)
