RANTAU – Palm oil fruit price in Labuhanbatu in last three months decreases. By Sunday (1/2), the price in the collector was Rp 1.100/kg or it decreased from the last day, which was Rp 1.400/kg.
A farmer who is also the boss of palm oil in Sigambal, Subdistrict South Rantau, Juni Ahyar (28) thought, the price fruit relates to the Export Tax (ET) which the government highly implements and which makes the fruit price keeps stagnant.
“When ET is high, the fruit price is in the opposite and drastically decreases. In that moment, the ET of palm oil which the government makes is 22,5 percents. This is bad for us. The government should increase the aid to the small farmers but not playing with our income in the downstream industries,” he said as written in Metrosiantar.
He hoped, in next June, the government should be focus more to help palm oil farmers by the replanting programme and develop downstream industries rather than increasing the ET of CPO. (T3)
