JAKARTA - As the biggest crude palm oil producer in the world since 2006, Indonesia should have sustainable and environmental palm oil plantations. The government, then, published a policy that each company should have Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO).
Director of PT Astra Agro Lestari, Tbk., (AALI), Joko Supriyono said, his side supports the ISPO policy. In addition it is the government’s policy to make sustainable palm oil plantations in Indonesia. “The criteria of ISPO is based on the regulations in Indonesia,” he recently said to InfoSAWIT in Jakarta.
Joko believed, ISPO will make all planters pay attentions to the environment around the plantations so the environmental palm oil plantations are not gone with the wind only.q T3
