MUKOMUKO – Palm oil plantation investment is predicted to be stagnant in next five years. Indonesian Chambers predited, it happens for the limited areas.
Beside that, Plantation Standing Commitee, Indonesian Chambers, Rudyan Kopot said, it happens for many regulations make the investors or businessmen postpone theirs. It will be ironic knowing that the government targets to produce crude palm oil (CPO) in 2020 – 2030 about 40 – 60 millions tons per year which is now is 32 – 33 millions tons per year.
“Last five years ago, the upstream palm oil expansion could be hundreds of thousands hectares but now, it is only tens of thousands hectares only. The other factor is that the limited area for many regulations should be fulfilled before making investment. This makes, businessmen and investors postpone to enlarge. If this keeps happening, in five years, there will be no changes,” he said to Investor Daily, Thursday, (22/1).(T3)
