JAKARTA – Secretary of Environment and Forestry, Siti Nurbaya welcomed the Embassador of Denmark in Indonesia, Casper Klynge, in Jakarta (15/1). The meeting was held to increase the cooperation in environment and forestry between both countries involving the government, privates and non government organizations.
Government of Denmark is welknown in the world with its good Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) or in Indonesia, it is called Strategic Environment study; and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) or in Indonesia, it is called environmental effect analysis; and the Economic Assessment (environmental fines and tax). For the strategy, Indonesia and Denmark, through Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA) has cooperated since 2005 through Environmental Support Programme.
The ESP has helped Ministry of Environment and Forestry in developing SEA and the Economic Assessment to be put in the Regulation No 32 / 2009 about the environment protection and management. The programme has made some good SEA samples to be the reference of making SEA and to increase the capacity for the central and regional governments, consultants and environment experts.
“The cooperation of Indonesia – Denmark focuses the safeguard instruments, they are, the plans and evaluation of effective environment programme, the developmentt of SEA and EIA and the economic assessment. In next three years, the concept being developed since 2015 should be implemented in the environment management,” Siti mentioned in the press release, Thursday (15/1).(T3)
