Palm Oil Stakeholders in Riau Pushed to Entering Downstream Industry

PEKANBARU – Riau Provincial Government assesses, local people are dominantly work as farmer, includes palm oil farmer. That’s why, Acting Governor of Riau Province, Arsyad Juliandi Rachman expects all of local palm oil stakeholders can continue the sector as sustainable.

While especially for palm oil businessmen also must think how to produce new based palm oil products. “Palm oil downstream products such are packed cooking oil, biomass processing, kernel, biogas, agro-industry pellet and others,” he said, as published by Go Riau, on Sunday (21/12/2014).

He said, to date, there are 187 palm oil mills (POMs) spreading in various regencies in Riau. So that the biomass and palm oil wastes processing as the electricity power sources have to be implemented.

If there were a hundred of POMs which process their palm oil wastes to be 1 megawatt electricity power, Riau will produces at least 100 MW electricity power. And it is enough to fulfill the lack of electricity power in here. (T3)
