PEKANBARU – Agency Business of REDD+ signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) related to the implementation of reducing emission from deforestation and forest degradation (REDD+) program in regional/city level with contribution of 12 Regencies/Cities in Riau Province.
The 12 Regencies consist of Bengkalis Regency, Governmental City of Dumai, Indragiri Hulu Regency, Indragiri Hilir Regency, Kampar Regency, Kep. Meranti Regency, Kuantan Singingi Regency, Pelalawan Regency, Governmental City of Pekanbaru, Rokan Hulu Regency, Rokan Hilir Regency, and Siak Regional Government.
In the event, BP REDD+ also launches Forest Land and Land Burnt Monitoring System (KMS) which has been existed and inaugurated in Governor’ office and some regency offices.
“KMS as one of the result of cooperation by BP REDD+ with Riau Provincial Government, as the effort to indentifying from selected information, and inform it to the stakeholders to handle the fire,” said Chairman of REDD+, Heru Prasetyo, in press release accepted by InfoSAWIT, on Wednesday (17/12/2014).
He also stated, the attention from the two last presidents toward the handling of forest and land burnt in Riau Province. “The commitment has been run, the newest president mentioned this is an important agenda, mainly related to the implementations,” he added. (T3)
