London – In order to support Indonesia’s commitment to produce sustainable palm oil, the government of Indonesia has published the regulation obliging all palm oil companies in Indonesia to have Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil by the end  of 2014. “Throgh ISPO, our medium term target – to export 100% CSPO production – could be realized in the short term,” Vice Secretary of Trade, Bayu Krisnamurthi said.

In the ceremony of European Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil which was held on June 4th ago, it was discoursed to the possibility of ISPO – RSPO convergence for having the same goal, that is, 100% CSPO. Convergence between ISPO – RSPO could be possible to run for there 11% of the indicators are not put in RSPO, while the rests 25% indicators in RSPO are not put in ISPO.

Based on the more similarities, it is hoped the products having fulfilled all the requirements in ISPO could fulfill the requirements in RSPO without re-doing all the certification process from the beginning.

“It needs to increase all indicators in ISPO, RSPO or other kinds of certifications to support productions and exports of sustainable palm oil,” Bayu said in his press conference, Saturday, (7/6/2014).(T2)
