Bogor – Vice Secretary of Ministry of Agriculture, Republic of Indonesia, Rusman Heriawan said, palm oil could be one plantation products to help to decrease green house effect emission.
The reason is, palm oil contributes maximally in the numbers of plantations and the users. “Beside that, palm oil plantations are wider than paddy areas,” he said in the socialization of the global warming effect and workshop in sustainable palm oil plantation in Bogor.
He continued, in the global warming and climate change, it is important for the agricultural sectors to play the role to decrease green house effects. It was written in the Presidential Regulation No. 61 / 2011 about the National Action Plan to Decrease Green House Effect, about 8 millions ton in 2020 within its own fund or 11 millions tons if it is helped by the foreigners.
Beside that, he continued, agricultural sectors become the main points to prepare the foods for 245 millions of Indonesian, become the material supplier for the industries and become the contributor 10,7% of the product domestic bruto within about US$16,7 billions.
Furthermore, agricultural sectors also absorb about 39,9% employee and become the main income for 70% of the villagers,” he said as quoted from Antara. (T2)
