Guided by this principle, Bumitama Agri Ltd. continues to strengthen educational opportunities through its Bumitama Berdaya (Support and Empowerment Initiative) program.
The program focuses on expanding educational access, enhancing teacher competencies, and creating stronger connections between academic institutions and industry needs.
One of the initiative’s flagship efforts has been supporting applicants for the BPDP Palm Oil Scholarship Program in West Kalimantan since 2022.
According to Bumitama, the assistance covers outreach activities, administrative preparation, and selection guidance. More than 1,000 participants have benefited from the program, with 178 students successfully securing scholarships and continuing their education.
Recognizing that access alone is insufficient, the company has also invested in improving educational quality.
In Ketapang Regency, West Kalimantan, 158 teachers participated in digital learning workshops designed to strengthen their ability to integrate technology into classroom instruction.
Training modules included curriculum development, electronic report management systems, and the use of Interactive Flat Panels (IFP) to create more engaging learning environments.
A similar commitment has been demonstrated in Central Kalimantan through the implementation of the Joyful Learning approach in collaboration with the Bumitama Foundation.
A total of 85 teachers from 31 schools in Kotawaringin Lama District received training focused on student-centered learning methods that encourage creativity, curiosity, and active participation.
Beyond schools, Bumitama has also sought to bridge the gap between education and employment through partnerships with universities and higher education institutions.
The collaborations include internship programs, guest lectures by industry practitioners, industrial visits, and joint research initiatives.
Through these partnerships, students gain firsthand exposure to workplace dynamics, industry standards, and technological applications, while businesses contribute to talent development efforts.
