Areal Legality Postpones Palm Oil Replanting Process

PEKANBARU – Replanting programme in the independent palm oil plantaions in Riau Province is obstructed. According to Regional Coordinator, Indonesian Palm Oil Farmer Association (IPOFA) Riau, one of the obstacles is the unclear areal legality.

Based on IPOFA’s data, the total palm oil plantation areas in Riau reach more than 2,3 millions hectares. The areas consist of independent and plasma plantations. It is estimated, there are about 60 -70 percents having unclear legalities.

“We support to do replanting process for the independent plantation. But the problem is the legality,” Secretary of Regional Coordinator IPOFA Riau, Afrino said as quoted from Riau Terkini, Sunday (15/2).

He is sorry for that because there are lots of old trees. If they are not in replanting process, this will effect the production of fresh fruit. (T3)
