Pekanbaru– Plantation Agency, Riau Province hoped, the regional government makes the policy to oblidge palm oil factory (POF) in Riau to have their own electricity power. This is to solve the electricity crisis in the region.
The obligation is based on the Regulation No. 30 / 2007 about energy –in Article 20, paragraph 2 saying the energy supply by the government is done in the remote area or not developed one.
“The Regent or Major as their authority should guide and monitor the electricty supply. So it is very possible to make policy saying that every POF should have their own electricity power,” Head of Plantation Business Development, Plantation Agency Riau Province, Sri Ambar said in Pekan Baru (11/2) as quoted from Antara.
Sri continued, based on the data from PT PLN Riau and Riau Island, per August 2014, the company just supplied the electricity about 551,54 megawatt for 926.636 housing with the electrification rasio about 66,44 percent. So the electricity power is deficit about 65 megawatt which effects to the rolling blackout, especially in the dry season or when maintaining the power unit. (T3)
