Ethnic Society Claims Ministry of Forestry

JAKARTA–The Ministry of Forestry as a forestry control institution in Indonesia should be responsible for the stagnacy of the Decision relating the change status of indigenous forest.

Coordinator of Law and Politics, Aliansi Masyarakat Adat Nusantara (AMAN) Rukka Sombolinggi said, Minister of Forestry claimed that all forests belong to the country. But in the Decision of Constitutional Court No. 35/PUU-X/2012, indigenous forest is not part of the country forests but belongs to the indigenous people. “It means, the Minister of Forest is against the constitution,” he recently mentioned to InfoSAWIT in Jakarta.

Rukka explained, Ministry of Forestry masters more than 80% of the forest in Indonesia. “But the institution (Ministry of Forestry) is just a country beyond a country,” he mentioned.  T3
