InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries, emphasizing cooperation to promote global peace and maintain a secure, stable, and inclusive Indo-Pacific region.
The commitment was announced during a joint press statement following the leaders' bilateral meeting at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta earlier this week.
According to an official statement obtained by InfoSAWIT on Friday (July 10), President Prabowo described Prime Minister Modi's state visit as an important milestone in deepening the long-standing diplomatic ties between Indonesia and India.
He noted that both nations share common perspectives in addressing today's geopolitical challenges through dialogue, multilateral cooperation, and adherence to international law.
During the talks, the two leaders reiterated their support for global peace while underscoring the importance of enhancing the role of Global South countries in shaping a more balanced and equitable international order.
Indonesia and India also reaffirmed their shared commitment to promoting an Indo-Pacific region that is free, open, transparent, peaceful, and inclusive, with ASEAN remaining at the center of the regional architecture.
Prabowo stressed that ASEAN centrality remains a fundamental principle in preserving regional stability and fostering sustainable economic growth across Southeast Asia.
Beyond regional issues, both countries pledged to continue supporting peaceful resolutions to international conflicts through diplomacy, constructive dialogue, and respect for international legal principles.
The Indonesian President said the convergence of views between Jakarta and New Delhi provides a solid foundation for expanding bilateral cooperation across various sectors while strengthening both countries' contributions to international stability.
Concluding his remarks, Prabowo highlighted Indonesia and India as two of the world's largest democracies with a shared responsibility to promote peace, prosperity, and sustainable development.
He expressed confidence that closer bilateral relations would further elevate both countries as strategic partners in the Indo-Pacific while creating broader opportunities for economic cooperation and mutual prosperity. (T2)
