InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – Indonesia’s Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim Polri) has escalated an investigation into alleged manipulation of palm oil export data, moving the case from a preliminary inquiry to the formal investigation stage.
As part of the investigation, officers from the Directorate of Certain Crimes (Dittipidter) conducted searches at premises linked to PT MMS in an effort to gather additional evidence.
Head of Sub-Directorate I of Dittipidter Bareskrim Polri, Senior Commissioner Setyo K. Heriyatno, said the searches were carried out after investigators found sufficient indications to advance the case.
The operation took place at two locations: PT MMS’s office in Pademangan, North Jakarta, and a warehouse facility in Pakuhaji, Tangerang Regency, Banten Province.
During the searches, investigators seized a number of documents and electronic devices believed to be related to the company’s export activities. The confiscated materials included corporate records, invoices, Export Declaration Documents (PEB), and several computer CPUs for further examination.
According to Setyo, investigators are examining allegations of under-invoicing, a practice in which export values are reported below their actual transaction value. The alleged scheme is believed to involve palm oil exports and may have affected the accuracy of Indonesia’s trade reporting.
“Investigators suspect there may have been manipulation of export data resulting in reported transaction values that did not reflect the actual value of the exported goods,” Setyo said in an official statement.
Authorities believe such practices could potentially cause state losses if they result in reduced government revenue from exports of strategic commodities.
The investigation team is currently reviewing all seized documents and evidence to trace transaction patterns, document flows, and individuals who may have been involved in the alleged violations.
Police are also seeking to identify parties responsible for the alleged misconduct while ensuring that the legal process proceeds in accordance with applicable regulations.
Bareskrim reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing the law against violations in Indonesia’s trade sector, particularly those involving exports of strategic commodities. The agency emphasized that maintaining transparency, accountability, and sound trade governance remains a key priority.
The alleged manipulation of crude palm oil (CPO) export data has attracted attention due to its potential impact on state revenue and the integrity of Indonesia’s export statistics. As of now, no suspects have been officially named in the case. (T2)
